Brian Malizia

Managing Partner

As the managing partner of The Horner Group, LTD (HGLTD), Brian is responsible for overseeing a team of investment and tax professionals that service the firm’s clients.

Previously, Brian worked as an investment consultant for HGLTD for two years before formalizing an agreement to become the firm’s managing partner. In 2018, he accepted the board of directors’ offer to take over the firm and continue the legacy of providing trusted financial consulting.

Brian has extensive experience in investment management, having served as a Vice President at Alpine Woods Capital Investors in New York and in various positions at MFS Investment Management in Boston. He holds the Series 6, 63, 66 and 7 registrations to fully serve clients. Brian’s background and approach combines investments with taxes in financial planning strategies.

Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in finance from Xavier University, where he was a NCAA Division I all-academic performer on the men’s soccer team.

A Columbus, Ohio native, he now resides in Chicago with his wife Alice. They are avid skiers and sports fans, rooting for Xavier and Vanderbilt University. Brian also teaches a stock market class to sixth grade students through a Chicago-based non-profit organization, Big Shoulders Fund.
